Tom Cannon is one of two Conservative Councillors that was elected for the Maidstone Borough Council seat of Bridge ward, elected in May 2021.  Due to the boundary changes in 2024, Tom was elected to represent the Palace Wood ward in May 2024.

Tom Cannon has lived in the local area all his life. He has worked in marketing and communications for over 6 years, provides freelance support and now runs his own online retail and farm diversification business. He has also written comment for The Daily Telegraph. 

Tom has had a successful academic career, achieving a MA in British History and a First-Class BA in History and Politics. He is also a Churchill Fellow, an honour which supports UK citizens to travel to bring back knowledge and innovative solutions to the betterment of the UK. 

In politics, Tom has previously represented Ditton at Borough level from 2015 to 2019. He was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Parish Council for an outstanding contribution to the Parish.  Tom is passionate about Maidstone and prides himself on standing up for local views. He supports low taxes, opportunities for young people and is passionate about local business and economic regeneration.

Cllr Peter Holmes campaigns to get money redirected from unwanted bus subsidy to improve road junction for local residents

Cllr. Peter Holmes has raised why money set aside for transport improvements cannot be used to bring about much needed work to a vital junction on the A26, Tonbridge Road.  The S106 money from one the Peafields development in Barming had been ring-fenced for providing a peak-time bus service.
