Cllr Paddy Riordan and Cllr Jose Castro replaced the timbers on one wooden planter and repositioned the second at The Parade in Staplehurst village centre last Saturday morning.
The pair carried out the work to support Staplehurst Greener Group’s ongoing efforts to maintain the area. Both planters now feature fresh plants and sit neatly on the brick-paved space near local shops.
Cllr Riordan described the job as “a job well done” and a small but important project. He noted it echoed earlier volunteer work by the Community Payback Team and paid tribute to the late Councillor Peter Spearink, whose poems appear on the planters and benches around The Parade.
A green plaque on one planter thanks community contributors for their support.
The updated planters brighten the village centre and show local councillors taking direct action on everyday improvements.
