Councillor Russell brought a Member Agenda Item to committee raising concerns about proposed government planning reforms that could remove councillors’ ability to call planning applications before the Planning Committee.
The committee agreed the recommendations, with support from members across political parties. The proposals will now be put forward as part of the council’s response to the Government consultation.
Councillor Russell has argued that elected members should retain a role in ensuring local views are represented in planning decisions.
